The Ifugao rice terraces (IRT) was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995 fulfilling criteria 3, 4, and 5. It "epitomize(s) the absolute blending of the physical, socio-cultural, economic, religious, and political environment, a living cultural landscape of unparalleled beauty." The sites are found in four municipal clusters: 1. Banaue- Batad and Bangaan; 2. Hungduan (entire municipality); 3. Kiangan (Nagacadan); 4. Mayoyao (central part) cluster. Since all its highland municipalities are peopled by Ifugaos- a rice terrace-building group- many areas are also in a list for possible inclusion in the heritage list.

The terraces view are amazing!!!! There are many spots to check it out for free, but the best ones are paid. Some routes can take you for more than 2 days around de area with one view better than another.
Low points, not many thing to do besides viewing. Not soo many choices for hotels or restaurants. It's also difficult to get there. More than 5 hours by bus from Manila

The rice terraces are so amazing. Everywhere you look in Banaue are these extraordinary constructions. I never seen that before. Together with fellow traveler I met we took a guide for one day and he showed us around. Sometimes we walked even on the edge of a terrace... For me a one day trip in the rice terrace was great but enough. You should definitely visit!

You have to see it and feel it! As well go to Batad which is around 15km away and have a walk to the village and waterfall. As well you can stay in Batad and I would recommend to do so, if you have some more days to spend in the area. It's unique.

Banaue Rice Terraces is considered as one of the eight wonders of the world. What's most distinct about the attraction is that its centuries-old rice terraces have survived and weathered mother nature and time.
