Intramuros (as the name suggests) is the walled Old City of Manila. Within the walls are national historical landmarks - like Fort Bonifacio and the Manila Cathedral. Also within are old houses, museums, parks, chapels, restaurants - all of which will take you back to the time when Manila was still under Spain's control.

Intramuros or what we commonly say " the wall" is a great place to see when you are looking historical background about Philippines. It is mainly the old manila city, history during spanish era, to japanese and american. Try the intramuros walk with carlos celdran he is a really good historian I once went there to get a tour from him sunday 9am at fort santiago you will enjoy the day tour with fresh coconut juice. :)

People who know me know that every time I am in Manila, I visit Intramuros because I feel I was a part of that era- the Golden Age of Spain.  I love seeing the fort, and the little city inside the city. I see it as a romantic part of my past. Colonial enthusiasts, and people interested in learning about Filipinos, I recommend seeing this city inside the city.

Of course, this is where my school, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, is located. The place also houses other schools such as Colegio de Sta. Rosa (my elementary school) and Colegio de San Juan de Letran. To see Manila in all its Spanish-colonized splendor, visit this place.

The Intramuros is an historic walled city built by the Spanish in Manila. It is well worth visiting with a good guide to get an informed history of colonialism in Manila. Allow 3 hours and make sure you visit San Augustin Church.
