Sep 12, 2009 This is a place with a charm unlike many places I have been. There is a lot to see and do. The restaurants are excellent and the people are friendly. Despite how nice it is you also get to see the two sides of Manila life. On the one side you have the nice and upscale and other you have a poor and destitute population. It's seems to be a lack of options as the Filipinos I have met on my travels have been some of the hardest working people I know. Enjoy your stay and remember, lines in the road don't mean anything. Aug 4, 2008 This is a fabulous place to base yourself whilst staying in Manila if you are on a budget the people are friendly and staff and fellow travellers will help you find anything...how to get to places the best places to visit how to get there and so on ..where to go to for food and entertainment.. great place..safe too.being surrounded by fellow travellers from all walks of life from around the world...very reassuring. Sep 15, 2010 Starbucks. KFC. Department stores. If this is why you backpack, go here and travel no further. For the rest of you, explore what makes the Philippine s what it is. $10 soup bowl, $20 for a dorm bed, and $3 per beer in Makati will wipe your budget clean and leave you with no lasting memory really, except a long yawn.
