Gdańsk (Danzig) is situated on the Gulf of Gdansk, at the mouth of the Wisła, Motława.
90% having invaluable architectural and urban qualities of the downtown buildings of Gdansk was destroyed during the war, particularly as a result of the struggle for the city in March 1945.
Gdańsk is one of the most valuable antique city in Poland, despite the fact that nearly all the historic downtown was rebuilt after the war.
The most important monuments of Gdansk can be found on the main town (Main City Hall, Artus Court, House Uphagenów) and Old Town (Great Mill, Old Town Hall, St.Catherine), located along the main roads of the Royal representative street 'Długa'. At the main town there is also a St. Mary's Church of the largest medieval brick church in Europe.

Gdańsk is not only a business centre, but also one of the most important tourist centres and cultural in Poland. Numerous monuments, natural attractions and the possibility of the active leisure above the seashore Baltic (23 kilometres of clean beaches) cause that every year here an about half million of foreign tourists is arriving and 800 tys. of domestic tourists.

The most beautiful part of the city. Historical buildings (17th century), great scenery, very lively and welcoming for locals and tourists. Most tourist attractions are located along the Ulica Dluga (Long Street). The street takes tourist to famous Crane and spectacular view of Canal and Port.

Woowww...what a place! So close to the water. Gdansk was very important in WWII ..you can really feel it... it was such a big city then, because of it's closeness to the sea. And is such a tourist trap now. Lovely, definitely check out the towers in Old Town and walk along the Harbour!
