Pier in Sopot them. John Paul II - the longest wooden pier in Europe [citation needed]. Is about half a kilometer in length - some walking is 511.5 m, 458 m which falls into the Gulf of Gdansk. It is one of the biggest attractions.
The first bridge, measuring 31.5 meters, was built in 1827 by Dr. George Haffner. Then, by the end of the nineteenth century, the pier was lengthened to 150 m in 1910 to 315 m. At present, the existing pier was built in 1928 - when it was rebuilt Kuracyjny Square. It was the biggest in the history of rebuilding the pier - the occasion was the 25th anniversary of Sopot and the 100th anniversary of the construction of a bridge. In the 90s Twentieth century were built of reinforced concrete head, protecting the main bridge, and the early twenty-first century, maintenance work was carried out of the same bridge
