On the island of Sao Miguel - drive away from Ponta Delgada up to the area called Sete Cidades - or Seven Cities to the two lakes that sit within a volcanic crater. One is named after a Princess and the other after the shepard that she was in love with. When they couldn't be together any longer - their tears formed these two lakes - one is green and one is blue - the colors come from the color of their eyes. The views are amazing and the countryside on this island in the Azores is quite beautiful. All vegetation was transplanted here over time - so that in itself is quite amazing.

It depends on the day you go and the weather, as the lagoons will take on different colors under different conditions... it is a pretty spectacular site!
