Dec 6, 2009 I've seen a lot of castles in my life but this has got to be one of my favorites. Not only is the view from the top gorgeous on a clear day but the view over the castle itself is even better. You can see the walls of the castle winding around the hilltop which is a treat to the eye no other castle has given me so far. The domain itself is rather small and this attraction misses 'buildings' and a musem like offer that most castles give you but that's also one of it's charms ... There's not much left of the original domain itself except for the walls and some minor structures and has been l argelyovertaken by nature ... breathtaking Jun 16, 2009 Gorgeous place. You can walk up there from the the town, passing Parque da Libertad you enter the castle through enchanting woodlands. Putting you in the mood for the magic of this castle. You have to go to the road first to buy your ticket at the boot. Just don't forget your wallet like I did because going up twice in 1 day is too much. Nov 27, 2010 This is a really nice place if you like old ruins plus it offers great views over the surrounding region. I strongly recommend this one compared to the Palacio da Pena, which I think must be avoided. The Pena Palace is crowded and ugly as hell. Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra might also be worth checking out.
