Coimbra is a wonderful place to visit in Portugal. They have built a new Forum (mall) on the opposite side of the river looking at the old city, and university. It is great shopping for a rainy day. Over the bridge is the older part of the city, little cobble-stone streets, and alleys you could get lost in all day long with boutiques, and shops. Crafts, shoes, clothing, household appliances, jewelry, and resturants are some of the shops you can find through the tiny streets.

The whole area is beautifull! Rent a car and explore the cost line.
