The Grand Square (Romanian: Piaţa Mare , German: Großer Ring ) is one of the largest ones in Transylvania. The square includes Bruckenthal Palace built between 1777 and 1787 as the main residence for the Governor of Transylvania. Also in the square is the Jesuit Church and the Council Tower, one of the city's symbols. The tower dates from the 14th century.
