All over the city, underground

Sep 24, 2011 Like in any other cities with metro we also used the Moskow metro system. It worked excelent no complain at all.Quite cheap, friendly user. But the main attraction is the inner architecture of the metro stations.Theu are indeed unique monuments of art so decided to be by the then communist system in order to show the world of what they are capable. When it comes to the metro, they succeded. We visited a lot of stations for the sole purpose of seeing them.Dont let yourself just go by.Stop to admire them. The feeling is that you visit an underground museum.A whole period of Russian history winds before your eyes.If you have no ideea about Russian history is enough if read a bit only to understand what you see.I can recomand the following stations but many more are to be visited:Ploshchad,Chekhovskaya,Park Culturi,Smolenskaya,Mayakovskaya. Apr 21, 2010 The Metro network of Moscow city is one of the best I have ever seen and travelled in anywhere in the world. Some of the stations are such beautiful as if they are hotel lobbys or palaces with so much art work and splendid chandeliers, they definitely don't look like metro railway stations. Some of the escalators are so deep that you probably cannot even recognise your mother at the other end!!! I had a whale of a time travelling in these metros and even though I did not understand the Russian language I used a dual language map which listed the stations in English and Russian and cross checked them with the cyrillic script to travel without any problems during my stay there. A must see when you are in Moscow!!! Nov 8, 2008 Metro's station is majestic, it's an art museum. You can see paintings, chandeliers, mosaics, sculptures, marbles ,decorated ceilings and walls. It's a piece of art. It was built during Stalin's reign. The escalators are so long, they're about 100 m underground. It is one of the busiest in the world; It carries 8 to 9 million passengers per day. When its doors open, you see waves of people leaving it. Sep 20, 2011 There are 150 metro, or subway systems, in the world and the Moscow Metro is almost without doubt the grandest. Beautiful, ornate and grand, decked out with stunning examples of socialist realist art, the Moscow Metro is the world’s largest subway system in terms of passenger rides, carrying eight to nine million passengers on an average weekday. It also boasts 265 km of track, eleven lines and 165 stations, an average distance between stations of 1800 m (resulting in commercial speeds of 42 km/h) and is almost entirely built underground. Mar 13, 2010 Moscow metro stations might be one of the main attractions in Moscow according to my opinion. There is a huge metro netwok, and all stations are seriously decorated from the old times. You can find heroic partisans fighting for the freedom of Sovietunion, the workers in the factories, or the farmers on the fields working for the benefit of the country.... incredible and amazing collection of communist art, you can spend hours just travelling from station to station, get out of the train to wonder around. Seriously very very interesting!!!
