Dec 29, 2008 It's more than a fortress, it's a cathedral, a prison, a cemetery...Peter the Great defied nature and built it on the unstable island. Later it was used as a political prison where famous people as Dostoyevsky, Chernyshevsky and Gorky were kept there. The cathedral had the biggest bell and the tallest spire (122.5 meters). It's also the burial place of Peter the Great and the Romanovos. Nov 18, 2008 When you go down to the river it's amazing. I was there in Febuary and there the rivers were totally frozen. I've never experience such low temperatures and such a cold weather, but it's worth it! Very different but soo amazing and fantastic! Related Links
