This is my home town, so I am biased, but the winter palace (HERMITAGE) is one of a kind in the world!
Research shows that if you spent one second in front of every object/furniture/statue/painting in this museum of 3500+ rooms, it would take you 11 years to see it all!! I believe it! Spend several days there to see the dynamic mixture of cultures in this tremendous collection!

The atmosphere is warm and the palace itself takes you on a time-travel back to the 19th. century Russia.
The Winter Palace, former home of the Tzar and the royal family of Russia has a great collection of historical artefacts and art. Definately worth a visit!

Amazing how this just goes on and on and on.
I remember that even when we tried to leave, we just kept finding new rooms, halls and exhibits.
