Description:
Situated in Southern Siberia, Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake by volume, as well as the deepest lake int eh world.  It contains around 20% of the world's total surface freshwater. Lake Baikal is a narrow and crescent shaped, so formed because it was formed on an ancient rift valley.

The lake measures 1,637 metres deep (5,371 feet), and contains endemic animals such as the freshwater seal, and omul, a type of fish.

Situated in Lake Baikal is Olkhorn Island, the fourth largest lake-bound island in the world at 730 square kilometres in size.
Getting there:
Located to the southeast of Irkutsk in Southern Siberia.

cool place to go, the so called 'Pearl of Siberia' is the word deepest lake (1637m) and it contains almost one-fifth of the worlds fresh water.
