Going to a market place is a must in any town in the Caucasus. In Pyatigorsk there are several markets, where you can find loads of fruit, vegetables and herbs from all over the region. Lots of dried fruits (e.g. apricots, peaches, raisin). Armenian specialties - dried apricots filled with walnuts and more... Remember to bargain!
