Volcanoes National Park
About Volcanoes National Park
High up in the heart of central Africa, surrounded by old volcanoes towering up to 15,00 feet lies the Parc National des Volcans with its rich rainforests, swamps, grassland and heath. Here is the home to around 400 rare mountain gorillas made famous by Dian Fossey's studies.
Follow trekking and tracking paths through the foothills of the Virungas, listen to the call of colourful birds and monkeys, traverse the rivers and streams that flow through the area, look for the still warm signs of a gorilla nest, and if you are extremely lucky, look eye-to-eye in to the face of a silverback gorilla. All of these activities, and more await you in the "land of a thousand hills." Payment Accepted:

Oct 28, 2008 One of the most amazing things you can do in life is to go here and see the mountain gorillas. They say once you have looked a mountain gorilla in the eyes you will never be the same. They are right. I crouched there in awe as this giant creature with his human like hands and ears and glistening black coat sat just in front of me and merrily munched away on the greenery around him. The number of mountain gorillas is not huge and sadly there are still problems with poaching. If you want to see them GO NOW!!! Jun 12, 2008 in the north of ruanda is ruhengeri, a city under seven volcans, in the border with zaire and uganda. is great, the mountais (volcans) are famous by the big monkeys and fossey.
