Rose Lake is about 40 miles outside of Dakar. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Rose Lake has an extremely high salt content; the mined salt can be seen on its shores, being bagged up and prepared for export. Because of the way the wind stirs up the salt crystals and the way the sunlight reflects on it, it creates a gorgeous glowing pink hugh. When conditions are perfect it is a Rose Color pink. When conditions are not quite right it can be more remarkable. You can see colors that you've never seen before! When I was there, the color of the lake was a fusion of canary pink and electric, neon orange. Very interesting color. The lake literally glows. And the locals are the friendliest people you'll ever meet.
