Victoria
About Victoria
Victoria is a great little town, everything is within walking distance. Keep in mind that the majority of goods are imported, so it might be hard to find something as simple as milk or a razor. There is a few souviner shops and lovely churches! There is also a buddhist temple and some fresh produce markets. The bus station is conveniently close. Try the Pirates Arms, this is a wonderful restaurant, probably the most popular on Mahe. A clock dedicated to queen victoria (who died in 1903, I think...) was erected in the middle of town, this is apparently a replica of a clock near London station and not a replica of Big Ben as so many people mistakenly believe. Victoria is also host to the national history museum, haven't tried it though, but think it would be a great learning experience for tourist wanting to know more about this wonderful islands history.
