The Banana Islands are made up of two islands, Dublin Island and Rickett's Island. Dublin Island is the closest to the coast. The islands are small, quiet and peaceful with plentiful beaches.

Getting there:
Get on a poda poda going to or passing through Waterloo. Then hire a taxi to take you to Kent. Let them know you are planning on going to Banana Island and the driver may be able to help you out with hiring a boat to take you to Banana Island. Be careful though, they will definitely try to rip you off.  I believe the price they quote most westerners is 100,000 Le. DO NOT PAY THIS. It should not cost more than 50,000 Le at the most.

If you plan on staying at the Banana Island Guesthouse, you can also call ahead and they will arrange transport.

I think anything I will say here will be a bit biased in favor of the islands since I arrived here after backpacking and not eating a lot of food for about a week. That said, staying on the island is a nice, relaxing experience. The beaches are beautiful, clean, and very empty. It is easy to obtain food here, but not as cheap as other places in the country.
I would recommend the walking tour offered by one of the staff at the Banana Island Guest House. His name is Michael and he can take you on a walking tour that goes through Banana Island and ends on Rickett's island.
If you're looking for a quiet place to relax, then this is it. If not, I would suggest staying here for a few days before moving on.
