Singapore's main shopping district, Orchard Road, is chock-full of shopping malls, hotels, movie theatres and designer stores with names like Gucci and Prada mingling with its more "budget friendly" cousins Zara, Topshop, and Mango. Don't miss the giant Japanese department store Takashimaya located in the Ngee Ann City shopping mall, the Wisma Atria Shopping Complex, and the 7-story Centrepoint Shopping Mall. Budget conscious shoppers can wander over to Lucky Plaza and Far East Plaza for more bargain-friendly, quirky clothing and accessories.

Orchard Singapore is also famously lit up during Christmas time, with lights being strung across the road, enormous Christmas trees in each shopping complex, and an M&M Christmas candy display. Don't even think about trying to get a taxi to drop you off on Orchard to do your Christmas shopping - you'd be better off getting dropped off nearby and walking. Another time to avoid driving or cabbing into Orchard Road is during the annual Great Singapore Sale (end of May-early July), where almost every store in Singapore offers major discounts and sales opportunities.
You can get to Orchard Road by taking the MRT and getting off at Somerset, Orchard, or Newton stops.

Its my favorite place in Singapore, shopping mecca. Lucky Plaza for my fix of Filipino food, Paragon got MS, Island Shop, AX, and most of the designer bags store. At the basement level, Din Tai Fung is there ffamous for dumplings. Wisma Atria is known for Gap, and other trendy boutiques, my favorite Dorothy Perkins is also there. Takashimaya, the biggest department store in Singapore, a lot of good buys esp at the basement level.

Shop till you drop! Unfortunately, the prices are a bit high, but the brands are great. For me, it is a great place for window shoppings, but if you like designer's brand, this is your place. Some of the great food are here, so you won't be hungry. Too crowded on tourist seasons, but if you haven't visit Orchard, then you haven't been to Singapore yet. :)

If you're the kind of person who relaxes with retail therapy then this is the place to go. There's the usual large malls but if you're vigilant the boutiques can be a real treasure trove. Granted, it's very tourist centric so definitely not on the cheap side which takes it down a peg. Be sure to buy from the ice-cream uncles!

Not all that into shopping so this review is a bit biased. I spent most of my time in internet centers (in Ngee Ann City) while the girls hopped the malls which are conveniently connected. Nur is right, prices are a bit high according to my friends.
