The castle is located in Bled, Slovenia, and is perched on top of a 130m cliff overlooking Lake Bled. It is on eof the most visited tourist attractions in Slovenia, second only to Postojna Cave. The first recorded reference to Bled Castle is from the year 1004, making it one of the oldest castles in Slovenia. At that time it is believed that only the romanesque tower existed in this location with the other towers being added during the middle ages. A chapel was added to the site in the 16th century.
The castle is beautiful and has great views over lake Bled and the land/mountains bordering Austria. It's definitely worth seeing if you're in Bled! Open hours are from 8am-8pm (May-Oct), and 8am-5pm for the rest of the year.
