We left the car just at the entrance to the steep street which takes you throu the forest to the castle.It is built on the top of the hill and it appears in most of the poscards or paintures.Most important is the chapel but also the inside yard with a possibility to walk on the walls.The view is excelent and from all directions you will get a different view.Sistematic rebuilding and conservation still goes on.

The placement on the top of the hill gives you opportunity to see the whole town from the tower... it's impressive if you stay till the closing hour and the lights will turn on and the city will be very colourfull. There is also, in the Castle yard, a place where you can drink a coffe or a tea... It's really a plesant place, and it's a shame to not visit it if you go to Ljubljana

Very easy to get to from the centre. It's a steep but safe walk - there is a funicular lift available as well. Charming small castle with a 'Toytown' style clock tower. Only takes a couple of hours all in, and the views are incredible!

According to archeological surveys, the area of the present castle has been settled continuously since 1200 BC, when the first settlements and later fortifications were built.

Nice point of view to Ljubljana and surroundings. In sunny weather you can even see Alps. And there is a park where you can jog, walk. lay in the grass and read.
