Oct 21, 2008 The VA is a great place to hang out. Food choices are endless but definitely recommend Quay Four. Belthazar is a great choice with great steaks - good luck trying to decide on wine for your meal with over 600 wines by the glass to choose from! Thankfully the staff are very knowlegeable and will guide you towards an excellent choice. Check out Alba cocktail bar, great views and a funky atmosphere with ridiculously low prices for cocktails compared to what you pay at home. Special mention needs to be made of Vaughan Johnsons Wine Shop, we had almost no knowledge of SA wine before we came to Cape Town, but we could go there tell them what we like and EVERY bottle they recommended was perfect! Found the shopping was no better than at home, in fact the prices for imported items were probably more than at home. But the Craft Market is definitely worth a look, I got a great piece of original artwork for AU$50!!! Sep 26, 2008 This is the greatest day out. You have a mall, Arts and crafts, Massage, Boats trips, Restaurant, Bars, Accommodation and much more all in one place. We went one a boat tour of the harbour. They showed us all the land marks and all the Vessels that were in the port. It was great and really cheep. We had a beer at Quay Four. This beautiful bar right on the warf. A lovely day in the sun. We then explored the Arts and crafts sheds. they had everything you could possibly imagine to take home. Pottery, Paitings, Jewellary. You can also do the Tours to Robin Island form the Water front. You travell by boat to the Island and then join a tour which shows you all the different parts of the Island and the Jail. You get to see Mandela's cell. Oct 13, 2008 The VA Waterfront was a good safe place for a woman on her own to do some sightseeing. It's a nice place to do shopping, banking, mailing postcards, and having a coffee or eating some cheap fish and chips. You can catch the ferry to go out to the prison where Nelson Mandela stayed for so many years but definitely plan that way in advance. It's certainly very touristy and I wouldn't call it a must see in Cape Town but if you've seen everything else or just want to relax by the harbor then I recommend it. Jan 14, 2009 Slightly overpriced, but hey its the waterfront. A few good restaurants, lots of fast food, bars, cinema and many many shops. And its the place to start for a cruise. Most of the outside parkings are gone, as they are expanding the waterfront. Best to take a cab as the parking garages are quite expensive. Sep 15, 2011 bit too touristic and expensive for my taste... Nice if you want a souvenir, at a certain price... some very good, though pricy, food around, nice restaurants. On the whole I wouldn't stick around here too long, and explore the rest of Cape Town a bit more
