What really fascinated me was the meaning of name Soweto. When people were driven out of the city of Jo'burg, they asked..... SoWhereTo now hence the name. I enjoyed walking Nelson Mandela's old neighbourhood. His house here, Bishop Desmond Tutu's there.

I liked visiting Soweto because I felt like I got much more of a sense of Jo'burg and those that live there.  I also really liked seeing Nelson Mandela's old house.  the history in this township is rich and fascinating.

A great place with a rich history... Visit the Apartheid museum, the Oppenheimer tower for a great view and off course the Hector Pieterson Museum!

Cannot miss here if you come to South Africa. Soweto is where the resistance to apartheid emerged, and is still home to hope and despair.

Soweto is half of the life of Johannesburg! The past history links to the present one. People from Soweto has worked hard!
