Known as one of the birthplaces of Confucianism, Doson Seowon is an academy that housed promanent Korean scholars, such as Toe-gye Yi Hwang (1501-70). Toe-gye Yi Hwang and Doson Seowon are both illustrated on the 1000 Won Korean bill.
