Take the subway line 1 to jongno sam ga. It's a short walk from there!

Insadong is a savvy place in Seoul to check out if you're ever in Korea! You can enjoy some great shopping--- mostly jewelry, hand made clothes, one of a kind type of things. You can also take care of that growling stomach with some of the best street food that Seoul has to offer. After eating, find yourself in one of the original tea houses that line the streets. If tea doesn't fancy you, there is a Starbucks right down the street!

I love Insadong! It is truly a travelers haven. There are so many traditional Korean events and shops plus a good amount of shops for other nearby Asian countries. I went from shop to shop and found some true gems from Cambodia to Mongolia. Also, it is right next to Gyeongbuk palace, which is one of the better palaces in the Seoul area.

One of the best places to check out Korean Culture, plenty of old traditional style resturaunts and bars on the back streets. Also you can find plenty of traditional Korean art, gifts, and if your lucky some live entertainment. If your visiting during the spring I recommend checking out the Buddah's Birthday Lantern festival

I lived in the Insadong area and think it is a vibrant, fun part of Seoul with plenty of traditional shops and restaurants nearby. Not the typical tourist trap / hotel area...although you are still only a 5 minute away from bright lights and western chain restaurants, if you're so inclined. Check it out!
