Jan 14, 2009 Cordoba's Cathedral was St Vincent Church, but when the Arabs conquered Spain in the 8th C they converted the church into a big mosque. During the Arabs reign, Cordoba was the center of the Muslim power. In 1236, the Arabs were led out of Spain and the Christians reconverted the mosque into a church. It's a very beautiful cathedral because the Muslim architecture which consists of pink and white arches is embedded in the Christian Cathedral. Muslims have asked the Pope to let them share the cathedral with the Christians but their request was refused. It would be great if Christians and Muslims share the same place of prayers !
