Description:
The 14th century Alhambra (so named because of its red walls) is an outstanding Moorish palace/fort that is one of the most impressive buildings in the world, and is the most popular historical attraction in Spain, with around 2 million visitors (mandatory advanced ticketing) each year.

The walk up to the hilltop Alhambra is very atmospheric and impressive.  Entering through the Gate of Justice, you can see the ruins of the original fortress, the Alcazaba.   The main attraction in the Alhambra is the Palacio Nazaries (Nasrid Royal Palace) with its tranquil pools, intricately carved walls, and impressive fountains.  With its stalactite ceilings and star-shaped cupola, the Sala de los Abencerrajes (Hall of the Moors) may be one of the most impressive in the Alhambra.  Also, the Generalife are the Alhambra’s beautiful terraced green water gardens.  They are certainly worth a lingering stroll.

Alhambra (Granada, Andalucia, Spain) It's a magnific, great Moorish palace in Spain.
It's formed with 3 parts - Nazari Palace, Alcazaba Fortress, and Palace of King Carlos V(now it's used as a museum). Also there are many beautiful gardens with big pool. With a little bit distance, there is another palace named Generalife. It also has a great garden. Before you enter, you have to check your entering time ; if you're not lucky enough, you have to wait until you can enter. The time written on the ticket means the time that you have to visit "the Nazari Palace", so you can enter Alhambra before that time, except Nazari Palace. You can also make a reservation before you visit and it costs 1 € more, but you can save your time to wait. If you want to see everything even every details, it may take more than 4 hours, but if you don't have enough time, so you can see just one thing in the Alhambra, you must visit the Nazari Palace. You may feel as if you were in a Arabic palace and you're going to be surprised at that great decoration of the palace. That may be the reason why the Catholic didn't destroy it. To the Alhambra, you can take the bus number 32 or 30 in the city centre. It costs 1.10 € for 1 trip (for a adult).

This amazing palace, set in an area with semi deserts, illustrates at which stage the Moorish culture was in medieval times. Within the complex, you can physically see how the Spanish tried to impose their culture upon the defeated muslims, in the same way as they did by building a cathedral within the great mosque of Cordoba. Interestingly, it's the original elements that remain the most attractive; the blend doesn't really work. The Alhambra is still like an oasis, with its canals that bring cool water of sources to every corner of the mountain top. You should visit it a couple of times, and in between buy a guitar from one of the local builders, who might teach you a few smart chords.

The Alahambras is a enormous Moorish palace built on top of a hill overlooking Granada. The gardens are beautifully maintained with lots of water features fountains and streams. The citadel boasts with some of the the most amazing Moorish architecture and well preserved mosaic iv'e ever seen. The view's from the Alahambras are as spectacular as the palace ranging from the Sierra Nevada to the Jewish quarter and the Muslim quarter with it's stunning chapels.A must see, give yourself 3-4 hours to visit and go early as it get's crowded from 11h00.Drinks can be purchased but take your own food for a picnic.

It was built during the Arab reign in Spain. It's a castle with beautiful gardens. The walls are like crochet embroidery. You won't believe your eyes,
The Patio of the Lions is probably the most famous place of the Alhambra. It is so called because of the twelve lions that throw jets of water and which are part of the fountain in the middle of the patio. Its a work of art and it's said that this castle is done by djin and not by men.

No matter how many pictures you have seen or how many stories you have heard it, as far as I am concerned this is one of the miracles of Moorish architecture, perhaps the finest. Try to go first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon when busloads of overweight touristas are least likely to spoil the occasion. Also, it helps if you are there in April, May, September or October when the weather is flawless and the crowds significantly reduced.

It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. It is really worth to come here early morning when there is not so many tourists, visit Nazir's Palaces at the begining and then just relax in calm surrounding of thousands of fountains. You have to spend here at least half a day to all places and have time to relax a little bit as well. The only one minus of Alhambra is that it's definitely overcrowded.

what can I say about La Alhambra?? It's better discover it oneself...but not in summer because there are a lot of people and it's very hot hot hot...! I went in winter with some friends, and we were alone in the palace...!!! You can spend hours visiting it...almost without people..

There is a saying "Quien no ha visto Granada no ha visto nada.”(“Whoever has not seen Granada has seen nothing.”) I agree completely. The Alhambra is a must-see, period. The moorish castle complex is not only historically and culturally important, it is also beautiful!

It was many years ago when I visit la Alhambra, but it was magnificient and the granadian people has taken care well of it.The main problem in summer is the temperature and the tourism, so it is wise to visit it eraly in the morning or, much better, in autumn or winter.

A lovely building with beautiful gardens. Tours are well conducted and the entire project is extremely well run.Downsides - you have to get there early to beat the insane queues and it's very hot and not particularly shady so take loads to drink and a big hat.

This is the most outstanding 'palace' I have ever seen. I've been there three times, and would return in a minute, given the chance. The Moorish architecture is utterly stunning - quite unlike anything seen in the Americas, or elsewhere in Europe.

It is a place you have to visit. The best time to go is autumn, because you can look and wander at your own pace, and you don´t have to deal with too many tourists. Don´t forget to bring a comfortable pair of shoes. It´s a place you will never forget.

Non c'è che dire: chi l'ha progettato, sapeva come costruire un luogo meraviglioso, armonioso negli interni e rilassante nei giardini fioriti. Da non perdere al tramonto e da godersi il panorama sulla città.

Go really early (7 a.m plus will do) and buy the tickets by credit card, it's way faster. The downside is that if you're a student, you won't get discounts.
