It's located on the top of Yabal-Faruk hill, where a Phoenician lighthouse was once built. The hill is in the middle of Malaga downdown and you have a great overview of Malaga. You can also see an wonderful sunset (~ 9 pm). The castle was constructed in the 14th century by Yusuf I and was conquered in 1487 by Catholic Kings. It was later restored, only to be completely destroyed by the French army before it was abandoned in 1812. It has remained a site of historical ruins as it is today.
