About Burgos Cathedral
Burgos’s Cathedral is the third largest in Spain (after Seville and Toledo) and is known for its exuberant Gothic architecture and decorations. The design combines French and German influences with the Spanish style.
The cathedral was started under Ferdinand III in 1221 although there were additions for hundreds of years afterwards. There are 13 chapels including the elaborate Constable’s Chapel, which has an impressive altarpiece as walls as well as the tomb of the Constable of Castilla (who founded the chapel) and his wife. Other highlights include the carved walnut choir stalls and the tomb of the legendary knight El Cid. Payment Accepted:
