Salamanca Old Town
About Salamanca Old Town
Salamanca’s medieval quarter is constructed out of golden sandstone and is full of impressive buildings amongst narrow streets. The Plaza Mayor is the heart of Salamanca, as all major streets converge on the plaza. Surrounded by four ground-level arcades, it is an appealing place to linger and eat.
Interesting buildings within the quarter include the House of Shells with its 400 scallop shell façade, the connected “new” and “old” cathedrals, and the Schools’ Square with its University. Salamanca is renowned as a university town and student life and activities greatly influence Salamanca. Payment Accepted:

Jul 21, 2008 A beautiful small town full of students from all over the world... had great month learning Spanish there (the best place for learning Spanish - they praize themselves as being the referent center for it :-P), and also great night life! They have so many bars, that is ''chupiterias'' there, and so many night clubs, that you can actually get drunk for free because the first drink you don't pay... Starting with September, the students parties begin, right on the streets. And tuna always playing on the ''most beautiful square in the world''
