Commissioned by Count Eusebi Güell,  Parque Guelle is a famous and well known Art Nouveau park designed by architect Antoni Gaudi.  The park was built between 1900 and 1914, and is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Originally intended as an upper-class housing development, Parc Guell failed due to its distance from the city centre at the time.  It now serves as a park that highlights Gaudi’s imagination and artistic genius.  Visitors to the park enter a fantasy world filled with things such as a multi-colored mosaic dragon fountain, mushroom pavilions, rolling benches, a colonnaded footpath, birds nests built in terraced walls, and more.  There is also the Chamber of the Columns – a forest of 100 columns topped by ceramic mosaics.    A small museum to Gaudi is on the park grounds in the house where he once lived.  Maybe you can also see the Porantula while there.

It was designed by Gaudi. A must see in Barcelona!

If you like La Sagrada Familia then you will love Park Guell. This park is a peaceful haven that has more of Gaudi’s warped creations, like a giant mosaic lizard fountain – its really cool. I definitely recommend you check this place out. Open 7am – 8pm and it FREE!

I could say "anything by Gaudi" is my favourite place, but I think Parc Guell is really something, because it combines two things I really adore-creative, colourful architecture (the one that is actually Art) and nature. A lovely place to visit with friends, but also alone (it is so vivid and playful that one can hardly feel lonesome or depressed), but for your sake, NOT during the summer because you will be fried like bacon under the hot Spanish sun! :p

I'm in love with this place! It’s the most amazing park I have ever been to! I’m so into Antonio Gaudi’s crazy and colorful mosaics, the benches, buildings and spectacular stone structures..
