About Picasso Museum
Barcelona’s Picasso Museum is housed in a duo of Gothic palaces that provide an excellent setting near the Cathedral. This is the strongest collection of Picasso’s work in Spain, and provides a particularly outstanding look at his early work. The entire collection involves of 1,000 works of art, including paintings from his teenage years. You can follow the development of his painting style since the collection covers his entire career from his blue period and earlier to Cubism and beyond. Picasso spent his younger years in Barcelona, explaining the strength of that part of the collection. Payment Accepted:

Sep 5, 2008 One of my favorite paintings in the Picasso Museum is called Las Meninas, a painting of a little girl Picasso with whom was obsessed.... I especially enjoyed the video portion of the museum, which shows a morph of the painting into many different versions..... After I left the museum, I saw a little nun walk down the alley and disappear into a little door in the wall, and I threw a few coins into the box of the guitar player nearby. Barcelona is a great city that is alive with feeling and spirituality.....I would highly recommend a visit there, as well as to the top notch Picasso Museum!! Mar 22, 2009 This was one of my favorite museums, and anyone interested in art, especially Picasso, should make time for a visit. I found the layout to be quite good, and there were enough descriptions to provide information on the different time periods in Picasso's life, and how these different periods manifested themselves in his art (i.e. his blue period). The museum is located in the Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarter) of Barcelona. Aug 23, 2009 Some of the best drawings I've ever seen in the flesh, Picasso wasn't just a cubist. This museum shows the works of a truly talented man chronologically, his earliest works are what impressed me most. Simple sketches from life made sat on benches of Barcelona to some of his greatest cubist masterpieces. A must see for any aspiring artist. And what an amazing building. Oct 13, 2008 I have to admit Picasso is too gloomy for my liking but if you're into him then this museum is chock-a-block with his stuff. Plus, unlike some of the bigger museums in Europe there aren't any crowds (at least not in April) so you actually get to stand there for a while looking studiously at a painting until you realise it's of someone's private bits.
