The tower has undergone a number of renovations, and today stands at 57m. It also features a modern beacon with a range of 37m. The lighthouse is open to public, and you can climb the 242 steps for a view of the surrounding region. The lighthouse has been referenced in a number of medieval manuscripts, including the Hereford Mappa Mundi, and Paulus Orosiusè Historiae adversum Pagnos written around 415-417. Payment Accepted:

Nov 12, 2009 Roman lighthouse (still used today!) on the rocky cliffs in the middle of La Coruña, offering a magnificent view over the ocean, the cliffs, the city and the bays surrounding it. Note: mind your head when entering the excavation in the basement. Also, take your time to walk around the peninsula to watch the ocean waves hit the rocks - definitely worth it, even when it's raining. Oct 27, 2008 In looks this lighthouse is not as old as it supposed to be. However it's base is without a doubt of roman origin and it's on the most beautiful spot of La Coruna, at the very end of the small peninsula. Great romantic setting to see the sun go down behind the lighthouse over the ocean.
