Parque del Retiro is not far from the Prado Museum and is the most popular park in Madrid. It is a wide, pleasant and peaceful (ehm... not during week-ends) green oasis in the Spanish capitol.

Beautiful park in the middle of the city. Great place to just go walk around aimlessly, rent a paddle boat with some friends, to go for a picnic, marvel at various scupltures, have a coffee and take kids (on weekends there tend to be puppet shows and stuff). All in a close walk from the subway and Prado.

A brilliant place to relax with some sangria from one of the many cafes or to sunbath on the beautiful grounds. It is even possible to rent a rowing boat for just 4 euros and glide across the beautiful coi carp filled lake

great parc, like 5 degrees Celsius colder then surrounding streets which is a pleasant factor in the summer.
