The Parral used to grow grapes to make the wine that was given to resting pilgrims along the Camino de Santiago that stopped to rest in the "Hospital", which is now the University of Burgos.

Today, El Parral is a nice place for a jog, to walk your dog, to have a barbecue or have a picnic lunch. There are already grills there that can be used by the public.
