It’s in Polonnaruwa, 182km from Colombo . We went by Jeeps with guides through a dense forest. The trees are huge and some of them resemble the trees that Tarzan used to climb; they have long ropes that descend from them. (Beforehand, I used to think that Tarzan used ropes). Besides, the spectacular trees, you see a lot of birds and even eagles. Suddenly, the narrow alleys opened into a wide plain with very light green grass and lakes. In one lake, there were a lot of white pelicans. We saw a family of elephants wandering lazily in the wilderness I thought that we just came to see those elephants. Then, we arrived at a spot where we saw at least 200 elephants grazing and drinking from the lake. We weren’t allowed to leave the jeeps for the elephants are wild and they may attack people.
