One of the best known authors in the world, was born and grew up at Mårbacka. Her debut novel, Gösta Berling´s saga in 1891 was a tremendous success, as were Jerusalem 1902 and The Wonderful Adventures of Nils 1906. To crown these achievements, she became both the first woman and the first Swede to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1909. (www.marbacka.com) Payment Accepted:

Oct 16, 2009 Selma Lagerlöfs home in Mårbacka, not far from Sunne, is now a museum, well worth a visit. She received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1909 (the first woman ever so honored) "in appreciation of the lofty idealism, vivid imagination and spiritual perception that characterize her writings."
