Visitors to Basel are bound to pass through this busy square at some point during their visit. The majority of trams stop here; in addition there are numerous shops, bars, cafes and restaurants in the vicinity.
The square is used frequently throughout the year during various events and festivals. Above the square is the Historical Museum, housed in the 14th century Barfüsserkirche.

Various tram lines run through here. Get off the tram at stop Barfüsserplatz.

It's like a center where concerts, organisations, matches take place and young people are eating their meal. You have best access to a lot of shops and the trams bring you everywhere.

On Thursday, there's usually a market, exceptional markets are in October and around Christmas. They sale pretty stuff and it's fun to look at it.

a good place to start the nightlife in basel. in summertime there are a lot of events (concerts, sport, fun) around the place, easy reachable by public transportation, weakly market. don't miss the x-mas market, try out the "glühwein". good place to start a sightseeing tour..

Its the meeting point of young and old and the center of the city, from there you can go to different shopping streets. Theres a McDonald. Often theres some kind of show or attraction on the large place in front of the historical mueseum.

the social center of basel. where everyone meets, where nightlife starts. it's located next to the market place, which is the "official" center of Basel.
