About Chapel Bridge
The 204m long covered wooden bridge crosses the Reuss River in the city of Luzern. It was originally built in 1333 to help protect the city from attacks. Inside the bridge are numerous paintings from the 17th century depicting Luzern's history. Attached to the bridge is a water tower of brick.
Much of the original bridge burned down in 1993 along with the paintings but the bridge was quickly reconstructed and the paintings restored. Payment Accepted:

Jul 16, 2008 Le Pont De La Chapelle et sa tour, appelé aussi « Kapellbrücke » est un pont fortifié de bois à toit de tuiles de 204 m construit en 1333 , ce qui en fait le plus vieux pont en bois d'Europe. Sous son toit, on peut voir de nombreuses peintures de forme triangulaire reconstituant les hauts faits de la cité depuis le Moyen Age. En 1993 , le pont a été en grande partie détruit par le feu. Il a été reconstruit depuis. May 24, 2009 part of what makes luzern one of the most romantic cities in switzerland. from the moment you arrive in luzern you are just taken back by it's charm. i personally have some memories that are forever kept there. but it is there for everyone to make their own. Nov 22, 2008 Medieval bridge that made it to the 80's before it burned down. The ceiling was completely covered with paintings. When it was destroyed, they completely rebuilt it, including the paintings, from pictures sent in from thousands of people from all over the world
