The Dieing Lion monument commemorates the Swiss Gurad to the French King when the revolution broke out in France. The French Royal Guard joined the revolutionaries and only the Swiss mercenaries stayed loyal to the King true to their oath. The monument is cut out of a rock cliff in the middle of the city of Lucern, only minutes from the lake shore.

The most beautiful monument I htink I have ever seen..So natural and beautifully carved, the setting in Lucerne is lovely also. A wonderful place and monument to visit when in Switzerland.

Luzern is a smal serene town and a nice walk around will definitely is an add-on!!
