Jet D'eau
About Jet D'eau
This fountain is one of the largest fountains in the world, reaching a height of 140 metres. At any given moment when the fountain is in operation, there are around 7,000 litres of water in the air, with two 500 kW pumps jetting out 500 litres of water per second leaving the nozzle at a speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). The fountain is located near the entrance of the Rhone River at the end of the lake, and is accessible from a stone jetty extending out into the lake from the south bank.

Jun 29, 2010 Jet d'Eau is impossible to miss when you visit Geneva, and it's pretty impressive. I read that water is jetted from the nozzle at 500 litres per second, and at any given moment there can be 7000 litres of water in the air! It's a beautiful sight, but I'd hate to see the electricity bill! :) Apr 30, 2009 Hmm dont go there in the winter time .... When I visited Geneva in December Jet D'eau was switched off so I was not able to admire this beautiful thing ..... Geneva didnt impress me so much .... I didnt find this city neither fascinating nor beautifull. All the buildings seemed the same and city looked like had no magic or spirit at all .... Nov 9, 2011 Better in summer so you can have a free shower by going underneath! When visiting Geneva, it's possible that the Jet d'eau is not activated because of bad wheater, too much wind... Oct 26, 2010 Geneva is what Zurich would love to be. Urban, warm climate, cool but unpretentious people, fun nightlife and excellent restaurants.
