Lake Geneva and Harbour
About Lake Geneva and Harbour
Lake Geneva is the second largest freshwater lake in Central Europe and is part of both Switzerland and France. The harbour at Geneva is quite impressive looking and is filled with boats. The paddle steamers and mouettes (shuttle boats used for public transportation across the lake harbour area) add to the atmosphere.
The massive Jet d'Eau in the harbour is visible from across Geneva and is an iconic image for Geneva. It draws in water from the lake and spouts a huge column of water that reaches up to nearly 500 feet high, going at speeds of 125 mph. Around 500 liters of water per second are propelled when it spouts, and this can spray across the harbourside in heavy winds. Payment Accepted:

Mar 9, 2009 Rolle on Lake Geneva is one of the most beautiful places in the world. My favorite view is walking along the paved trail at the edge of Lake Geneva looking back at the castle in Rolle sitting on the water with the vineyards climbing up the hillside behind. The best place to stay is in Laussanne which is a 5 minute train ride to Rolle. There are many beautiful cities within 45 minutes including Nyon, Chexbra, Geneva, Montreaux, etc. Oct 22, 2008 It is a beautiful city and there are so many things to see and do. Enjoy going across the lake on little water taxis, walking around the city and enjoying the wonderful restaurants. You can find just about anything you want to eat there from a typical Swiss fondue or racalette or any international dish.
