Lausanne's Cathedral is easily one of the places one must visit when in Lausanne. Not only for the building itself, but also for the wonderful view that one can admire from the cathedral and its courtyard. The building has been renovated over the years, and one of its "alcoves" was completely restored with glass windows. An old tradition of yelling out the hour at night is still practiced by the "lookout" who comes out between 10 pm and 2 am to inform the "Lausannois" of the passing of the hour. Definitely a moment to witness!

Give yourself a treat after climbing all those steps to get up to the Cathedral, by heading back down those same steps (opposite main entrance) under the arcades down passed the "giraffe bar" (on your left) and going through the tunnel under the road, to find another special place in Lausanne. Immediately to the right after this tunnel, you will find "Le Barbare" a small café/restaurant, where you can enjoy the best homemade hot chocolates I've ever had. Just ask for a "Chocolat Chaud liégois" and let your taste buds rejoice!

The whole cathedral area is worth seeing. Inside nothing to note, outside is really impressive from everywhere in the city. All around the cathedral, the old city, with small bars. Just down the wooden stairs, some bars... very nice!

I am from Lausanne. i been in the cathedral long time when i was a little child. arourd it the area is nice. old bulding, nice bar and restaurent. and you are lucky you can see the festival de la cite with live bands. enjoy

Love the place and the bars underneath especially giraffe and great escape. you should visit the top of cathedral as well and also in summers its a lovely place to just hang around..

Marvellous ancient gothic style church. Impressive towers. Better watch out!
