The "Aare" is probably the worlds cleanest capital city river! During summer Aare is a wonderful place to cool down from the heat of the day and it is not just a fresh bath but an amazing ride with the fair flow of the river. Along the river bank there are many places to jump in or climb out, young ppl jump from the bridges and families drift by in their ruber boats. Thus Aare is THE meeting place of the Bernese in summer and during the rest of the year it is your choice, if you're up for a calming walk dominated by the color green!

Unimaginable clean waters... possible to swim in the cold waters, if you have the courage. In the summer the water temperature ranges from 18 to 20 degrees and many people have fun in letting the current carry you through the city. Must have some good swimming skills though, or at least a floating ring or something like that.

The Aar rises in the great Aar Glaciers of the Bernese Alps, in the canton of Bern and west of the Grimsel Pass. It runs east to the Grimsel Hospice, below the Finsteraarhorn, and then northwest through the Haslital, forming on the way the magnificent Handegg Waterfall.

Have a swim in summer when the river is at it warmest (rarely above 20 degrees Celsius). Careful! Only for good swimmers! The river flows fast but steadily and it is very refreshing.

River waters are cold. Switzerland is cold. A river in switzerland is so cool! Recomended to all. Just remember to get out of the river before the power plant!
