Grindelwald-First
About Grindelwald-First
The Grindelwald-First is a three-stage chair-lift that was once the longest in Europe, carrying passengers a distance of more than 5 kilometers (about 3.25 miles). Today, the chairs have been replaced with six-passenger gondolas. It's a 25-minute ride to the top, at an elevation of 2168m (7,610 feet). On a clear sunny day, the views of the Grindelwald Basin and several famous mountains (the Wetterhorn, the Eiger, and Fiescherhörner, and the Schreckhorn) are nothing short of spectacular.
