From Castagnola you take the funicular, which has been restored to the original 1912 design, leaves every 30 minutes.
You can realy appreciate the splendor of the Monte Rosa, the Bernese and Vallese Alps as seen from the top.
At the top (933m) you'll find various restaurants and panoramic terraces.
With only a short walk you can explore a charming village that has conserved its traditional old "Ticinese" character and style. The village is enriched by its refined "Art trail", by the frescoes of Birò and Luigi Taddei, the Pasquale Gilardi sculptures and the Wilhelm Schmid Museum.

Loved the trip to Monte Bre, going there with my wife and 3 children, at the time they where 5,7 and 9 and they loved hiking a cross the small narrow paths and they wanted to explore a animal droppings and plants... The funicular has also has one "stop" in the middle, walking from the top of the mountain to that stop was worthwhile the effort. Take a look at some of the pictures....
