This small cemetery is located in the center of town, within which lie numerous mountaineers who attempted the various mountains in the area. Each epitaph gives the name and the mountain that the climber attempted to summit.

This cemetery has a lot of history. Not only does it have a section for local children that passed away from a disease that spread from intermarrying years ago, but also all the mountaineers' that attempted to climb the Matternhorn and never maid it. It is located in the center of Zermatt and is always adorned with beautifully colored local flowers.

I wasn't really aware that the cemetery existed until I wandered right into it during my stay in Zermatt. But given my fascination with mountaineering, it was really something to walk on these old grounds and learn the stories of those who have attempted to climb the mountains all around the valley.
