To get to the Uetliberg, you must take a special train which departs from a separate platform at Zürich Hauptbahnhof. The journey is about 30 minutes (if I remember correctly) and quite pretty as you rise above the city. Once you arrive at the tiny little station (not much is there except a ticket machine and a post box) you must walk up to the look-out and a restaurant. The view of Zürich is spectacular! :D But I highly recommend making this journey during good weather, as the visibility will be obscured. Also, as I was waiting for the train back down to Zürich, a storm came, and the sound of the thunder up there was really startling. :Z I'm sure there are forest trails up there, but because of the storm I didn't get a chance to explore them. Maybe next time!

On my first visit in Zürich I went up that mountain with a friend and enjoyed the great view from the watch tower and afterward had a great dinner at the restaurant right there. It was a wonderful evening and I can highly recommend to check it out. They even got a model of our solar system to understand the width in between the planets and stars to each other.

Uetliberg is the main attraction for tourists visiting Zurich and wanting a good overview over the city and the country. after about 30mins of trainride up the hill from Zurich main station, you arrive at about 800 meters with a fabulous view over the town. climbing up the tower is always recommendable and going for lunch in the restaurant is also very good.

A well known but seldom visited local mountain overlooking Zurich. If you have some time and like a 2.5 hour hike. ride to ADLISWIL by train and take the cablecar up. Then walk all the way to Uetliberg and treat yourself with a gourgeous view. Bring picnic to avoid the pricy restaurant. Afterwards you can take the train down and back into ZURICH.

Zurich's so called house mountain. From the top you've got a stunning view all over the city with its beautiful lake. You can either walk up or take the train. The Restaurant Uto Kulm is a very good address for a nice dinner.
