Getting there:
There are different entries to the Souk but one of them which is easy to find is just near the entrance of the Citadel.

Oct 10, 2008 I've been into Aleppo's souq many times over the years and always love the experience. The entry near the citadel is a bit touristy but don't let that put you off. The further in you get the more chaotic it gets and the more you will find the real locals doing their daily shopping. Get off the main souq street and explore the narrower paths; look out for the skinned camel heads hanging from one of the amazing wooden gates, the donkey carts squeezing past you in the narrow lanes, the guys selling goldfish in bowls, the beautiful fabrics and the exquisite loom woven cushion covers. The Aleppo souq beats the Hamadiyyah in Damascus hands down! And if you're dressed conservatively (headscarves not really necessary but good if you want to fit in a bit better) the locals will welcome you with open arms (literally in some cases!). Hours of free entertainment and a fantastic way to interact with the locals -this place has it all. Sep 12, 2008 Halab is a city that should not be missed. The view on the citadel is great. The citadel can be visited. Nearby is one the greatest souks of the world. You can enjoy walking during hours inside the freshness of the Souk and never get bored. I recommend buying pistachios and silk scarfs. May 22, 2010 oohhh it's my hometown , it's called SOUQ al MADINA , a nice sample of the Arabian architecture , u can find everything u need , and of course the traditional Syrian souvenirs ;) make sure u visit ALEPPO ;)
