It's  in the heart of the Damascus at the end of Al-Hamidieh market. It was built by the Omayad Calif Al-Walid Bin Abdul Malki in the year 705 A.D. St John's Tomb is in it.

I'ts in the heart of Damascus . It was built by the Omayad Calif Al-Walid Bin Abdul Malki in the year 705 A.D. It used to be a church and you can see the tomb of St John in it.
When Pope Jean Paul II visited Damascus he visited this Mosque.

Beautiful mosque in the hustle and bustle of one of the oldest cities in the world. I love hearing how muslims and christians used to pray here together centuries ago.

A wonderful mosque with a lovely, serene quality about it; rich in history and with two important Islamic shrines as well as the tomb of Salaheddin right next door.
